Safe serving
Depends entirely on the sweetener
FODMAP group responsible
- Excess fructose — Monosaccharides. A problem only when fructose outweighs glucose, as in honey and apple.
- Sorbitol — Polyols. Stone fruit, avocado, and most sugar-free products.
Why
Two separate traps. Regular versions sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup are high in excess fructose. Sugar-free versions frequently use sorbitol or other polyols, which are among the most reliable triggers on the list. Cola sweetened with ordinary sugar, and drinks sweetened with stevia, are fine.
This entry is compiled from published Monash-aligned guidance rather than our own laboratory testing, and thresholds are revised as new data arrives. For the elimination phase the Monash app is the authority. See the full food list for how the categories fit together, orcheck another food.
